Gaming is no longer seen as a childish pursuit. In fact many gamers, are middle aged farts like me. The Sony Playstation Dualshock 4, is a fabulohttps://www.bitsbytesbobs.com/wp-admin/edit.phpus controller, it works, but there is one huge issue for many gamers like me. It’s too small. It’s uncomfortable for long periods. Given that the PS 4 is the most popular gaming console globally and the majority of which are purchased in the West. Doesn’t it make sense to have a controller that is more ergonomically designed for westerners?
I love my Playstation, the games, the PSVR and where we are heading. But there is one thing that litterally is a pain with the playstation and that’s the Dual Shock 4 controller. It quite simply is far too small for most western hands. My hands aren’t particularly large, I’d say about average – my gloves tend to be medium, as are my clothes, my height is a tad below average, and like many of us in the west, my weight could be better. But my hands aren’t huge and I have real issue with the controller. Using it for long periods causes cramp or RSI in my thumbs. The trigger placement seems at odds as to where my fingers naturally want to lay. For those with smaller hands, it works a treat, it’s ideal for kids, but for folk like me, with our western hands, the playstation dual shock 4 isn’t working. I’ve noticed this more when I purchased an Xbox One X and remembered as soon as I got the controller in my hands, what a joy that controller is, how comfortable it is, it just feels and works great. Trouble is, having played a lot of my Xbox one X, moving to the dual shock 4 is even more a bind. So my question is this. Given that the Playstation is so hugely popular in the west, surely now at least is the time for sony to release a controller, their own controller, the XL Playstation Dualshock 4, nothing different from the current dual shock 4, that’s fine, but simply bigger. Surely I am not the only one that would buy it day one?
What do you think? Is the current Dualshock 4 ok for you, would you like to see an XL Dualshock 4 from Sony? Are there any decent alternatives that have all of what the Dualshock 4 has – light bar for VR, touch pad etc? Let me know in the comments below.
