Soundcloud has experienced it’s fair share of woes this year. With a $70M loan at the start of the new year, followed by a raft of layoffs and cut backs, the future of Soundcloud was looking pretty grim. Certainly when viewed against the likes of other music related services, it was always going to be hard for them to be profitable.
All is not lost however. A $169.5 investment from the Raine Group and Singapore’s state investment company, Temasek has saved them for now. How long these funds will last and whether there is any form of additional funding in the works remains to be seen, but this could be the last amount of available funds before the service can be turned around, if ever it can be.
